Guide to renewing Arkansas Teacher Certificate

- Step 1 - Pay the $100 fee online to renew your license.
- To access the ADE web site online: Go Here
- You will need to type in your name exactly as it is on your teaching license then you will have access to pay the fee.
- The ADE does not accept checks.

- Step 2 - Complete Educator's License Application.
- Print off a copy of the Educator's License Application.
- Your signature is required on the 2nd page.
- Step 3 - Complete a Child Maltreatment Registry form.
- Print off a copy of the Child Maltreatment Central Registry form.
- Complete the form and sign on Applicant's Signature line at the bottom of the page.
- Return to Human Resources at Administration along with a $10 check made out to DHS. HR will notarize the form and send to the registry for processing.
- Print off a copy of the Child Maltreatment Central Registry form.
- Step 4 - BPS Staff Development Hours
- Staff Member employed with BPS for the full period beginning 05-06 school year.
- BPS Staff Development hours have been reported each year since 05-06 to the ADE. You do not need to complete the staff development form.
- Staff Member employed with multiple Arkansas school districts beginning 05-06 school year.
- Print off a Staff Development form for each district and submit to the school district/s to complete including BPS.
- The Staff Development form will need to be included with your Educator's License Application.
- Staff Member employed with BPS for the full period beginning 05-06 school year.
- Step 5 - Arkansas Ideas course. Act 1236 of 2011. Child Maltreatment
- Effect the 2012 renewal, the state is requiring the completion of the Act 1236 of 2011: Child Maltreatment course located on Arkansas Ideas.
- Directions for accessing the Arkansas Ideas course website can be found here.
- Once completed, print Certificate of Completion.
- Enclose certificate with Educator's License Renewal.
By October 15th
The HR department will submit your completed paperwork to the ADE for licensure renewal. Submit the following items to Maribeth Hobbs, HR Assistant, no later than October 15th.
- AR Educator's License Application
- Child Maltreatment Form w/ $10 check made out to DHS
- Certificate of Completion for the Act 1236 of 2011. Child Maltreatment course
- Staff Development form IF you worked in more than 1 district.
Licenses have not been received in the past from the ADE until mid to late December. When they are received, HR will place one original copy in the employee HR file and forward the other two original copies to the employees' building for distribution.
